A shocking case of road rage has been reported from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where a goods vehicle driver was brutally assaulted and mutilated following a dispute on the road, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on Saturday night near Shindewadi village along the Gangapur-Lasur road. According to officials from the Gangapur police station, the 32-year-old victim had stopped his mini pick-up vehicle at a sharp turn due to a technical issue while returning after delivering a consignment.

A passing van narrowly avoided colliding with the stationary vehicle, which led to an argument between the occupants of both vehicles. The situation quickly escalated.

Police said the driver attempted to escape and ran into a nearby field, but was chased by six to seven men from the van. The attackers allegedly assaulted him severely and, in a gruesome act of violence, severed his genitals before leaving him on a nearby road.

The injured man was later rushed to a sub-district hospital in Gangapur, where he is undergoing treatment.
