Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said Andhra Pradesh has received its highest-ever allocation for rail infrastructure, with more than Rs 10,000 crore earmarked in the Union Budget for 2026–27.
According to a press release issued by the Vijayawada Division of the South Central Railway, Vaishnaw said railway projects worth Rs 93,649 crore are currently under execution across the state, while a budgetary outlay of Rs 10,134 crore has been provided for the coming financial year.
The minister also noted that Andhra Pradesh has achieved complete electrification of its railway network, marking a significant milestone in modernising rail operations.

Referring to the budget announcement on high-speed rail connectivity, Vaishnaw said seven such corridors have been planned nationwide. Of these, two major routes—Hyderabad–Bengaluru and Hyderabad–Chennai—will pass through Andhra Pradesh, enhancing regional connectivity and boosting economic growth.
