Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday joined a cleanliness drive in Bihar's capital to commemorate 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.

The campaign, organised at the iconic Golghar monument in Patna, also saw participation from Bihar Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha and other public representatives.

Sharing details of the event on social media, Chouhan said the initiative was part of the nationwide observance marking the completion of the Modi government's 12-year tenure.

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with turning cleanliness into a mass movement through the Swachh Bharat Mission, which, he said, has encouraged widespread public participation and awareness across the country.

According to Chouhan, cleanliness is closely linked to good health, improved living conditions and a sense of social responsibility. He urged citizens to actively contribute to maintaining hygiene in their homes, workplaces and public spaces.

Later in the day, the Union minister is scheduled to attend the Khet Bachao Abhiyan programme at Naubatpur, located on the outskirts of Patna, where discussions on agricultural and rural development issues are expected to take place.

Upon his arrival in the state capital, Chouhan met Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and discussed various developmental initiatives.

He also chaired a review meeting with senior state government officials to evaluate the progress of central and state schemes related to agriculture, rural development and farmer welfare.
