The Department of Posts on Thursday released a special philatelic cover to mark the occasion of the Gangasagar Mela, according to an official statement.
Unveiled at the Kolkata General Post Office, the commemorative cover was released by Director General of Postal Services Jitendra Gupta. Titled “Gangasagar Mela: A Confluence of Tradition, Devotion, Emotion, and Spiritual Belief,” the cover captures the deep religious and cultural significance of the annual pilgrimage.
The design prominently depicts the sacred ritual of the ‘Maha Snan’ and showcases the historic Kapil Muni Temple, located at the revered confluence of the Hooghly River and the Bay of Bengal.
Officials said the visual elements of the cover reflect the spiritual heritage and centuries-old traditions associated with the Gangasagar Mela.
