Voting was briefly delayed at a few polling stations in Tamil Nadu on Thursday morning due to minor glitches in Election Commission of India voting equipment, officials said.
At a polling booth in Erode’s Soorampatti area, officials reported a minor technical issue in the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), which was quickly rectified.
In Namakkal, at a polling station near the foothills of Kolli Hills, voting was delayed temporarily after the EVM/VVPAT unit malfunctioned. Officials replaced the faulty equipment with a spare machine.

Voting for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 began at 7 am across all 234 constituencies under tight security arrangements.
