Polling across all 234 Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu saw strong participation on Thursday, with voter turnout reaching 37.56 per cent by 11 am, according to the Election Commission of India.

Nearly two crore voters had cast their ballots in the first four hours after polling began at 7 am. Around 5.73 crore voters are eligible to vote in the state election.

District-wise Highlights

• Tiruppur district recorded the highest turnout at 42.45%.
• Chennai registered 35.47%.
• Madurai saw 36.22%.
• Coimbatore recorded 38.62%.
• Tiruchirappalli district posted 38.08%.

Key Constituencies

• Kolathur Assembly constituency, where M. K. Stalin is contesting, saw 37.06% turnout.
• Chepauk-Tiruvallikeni Assembly constituency, where Udhayanidhi Stalin is contesting, recorded 34.44%.
• Edappadi Assembly constituency, where Edappadi K. Palaniswami is in the fray, saw 39.94% turnout.
• Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency, where Vijay is contesting, registered 37.24% polling.
