Asansol
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday intensified his attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), asserting that the party’s “sins have overflowed” and promising a “double-engine government” in West Bengal after the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing a rally in Asansol, Modi said the state is poised for a political shift, adding that after May 4, West Bengal would enter a new phase of development under BJP leadership.
He claimed that the demand for change is growing across the region, from Asansol to areas such as Durgapur, Raniganj, Saltora and Raghunathpur, reflecting widespread public sentiment.
Calling for a change in governance, the prime minister said that development in the state requires a departure from the current regime. He alleged that while the rest of the country is progressing, West Bengal is being held back.
Modi also accused the ruling party of corruption and mismanagement, claiming that the state’s resources, opportunities for youth, and economic potential are being controlled by vested interests, rather than being used for public welfare.
The rally was part of the BJP’s campaign push ahead of the Assembly elections, as the party seeks to expand its presence in the state and challenge the TMC’s dominance.
