Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated a 50-bed hospital here, the first such health facility to be run by the Agartala Municipal Corporation.

Speaking at the event on Sunday night, Saha expressed confidence that the hospital would play a crucial role in delivering quality healthcare services to residents of the city and its surrounding areas.

The Agartala Municipal Corporation will run the hospital with help from the Health and Family Welfare Department, an official said.

The hospital would also provide outpatient department (OPD) services in the evening, ensuring greater accessibility to medical care.

Describing the initiative as a pilot project, the chief minister said that if the model proves successful, the government will consider expanding similar facilities to the remaining 19 urban local bodies across Tripura.

He also stated that the government is planning to implement an integrated system to strengthen the delivery of advanced healthcare services at the primary level.
