With summer vacations beginning in schools across the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday wrote a letter to children, urging them to use the break to learn new skills, understand family values, and adopt environmentally conscious habits.

Sharing the letter on X, the chief minister appealed to both children and parents to make the holidays "meaningful and enriching".

Addressing children, Adityanath said summer vacations offer opportunities for joy, enthusiasm and new discoveries. He encouraged teenagers and youngsters to utilise the time to learn a new language or acquire a new skill.

The chief minister also urged parents to take their children to visit their maternal and paternal grandparents during the holidays so that they could spend time with family members and learn about traditions and values closely.

He further advised parents to help children connect with nature during the summer break.

Emphasising environmental conservation, Adityanath appealed to people to make the vacations "plastic-free".

"My appeal to all of you is to take a pledge to make these holidays plastic-free. Small efforts become the foundation for big changes in the future," he said in the letter.
