Veteran Odia playback singer Geeta Patnaik, who passed away while undergoing treatment, was cremated in Cuttack on Monday. She was 73.
Patnaik had suffered a brain stroke last week after she fell ill during an event on Thursday. She was initially admitted to Capital Hospital and later shifted to a private medical facility, where she breathed her last on Sunday evening, according to her brother-in-law Pradosh Patnaik.
Her mortal remains were brought to her residence, where family members, friends and several prominent personalities gathered to pay their final respects.
The cremation took place at the Sati Chaura crematorium in Cuttack.

With a musical career spanning decades, Geeta Patnaik earned recognition for her collaborations with legendary Odia singer Akshaya Mohanty. She rendered many memorable songs in Odia cinema, including the popular track “Phur Kina Udigala Bani” from the film Jajabar.
