The meeting comes a day after leaders of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale at the RSS headquarters on January 13. According to sources, the interaction lasted around half an hour and was a courtesy call initiated at the request of the CCP delegation. No formal agenda was discussed.
The CCP delegation also visited the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters, where they met BJP General Secretary Arun Singh and Foreign Affairs Department Convener Vijay Chauthaiwale. Sources described the interaction as part of a routine exchange, clarifying that both meetings were courtesy interactions and not formal or policy-level engagements.
Sharing details on X, Chauthaiwale said that a BJP delegation led by Arun Singh held discussions with the CCP delegation, headed by Sun Haiyan, on advancing inter-party communication between the BJP and the CPC. Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong was also present during the meeting.
In August last year, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Cai Qi, Secretary of the Secretariat of the CCP, with discussions focused on strengthening India-China cooperation and deepening bilateral political engagement.
