Six women are amongl 12 scholars of Jamia Millia Islamia University who have been selected for the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowships (PMRF) under the lateral entry scheme of the May 2022 campaign.
Last time six scholars from the prestigious central university had made it to the top scholarship programme of India.
The selected candidates and those who recommended their names are:
Mohammad Arad, recommended by Prof. Tariqul Islam, Electrical Engineering
Muhammad Masood, recommended by Prof. Mahfouz-ul-Haq, Biotechnology
Gulnaz Tabsum, recommended by Dr. Kapil Dev, Biotechnology
Ayesha Iman, recommended by Prof. Sami Farhat Basir, Bioscience,
Sakina Musrat, recommended by Dr. Rafiq Ahmed, CNN,
Mudassar Younis Sufi, recommended by Muhammad Ajmal Khan, Physics,
Shah Mushir Alam, recommended by Dr. Javed Ali, Physics,
Shelley Bhardwaj, recommended by Dr. Amit Kumar, Chemistry,
Sneha Shukla, recommended by Prof. Saif A. Chaudhary, Chemistry,
Abdul Samad, recommended by Dr. Shama Parveen, CIRBSC, and
Noha Abir Khan, recommended by Dr. Mohan C. Joshi MCARS
Vive Chancellor Prof Najma Akhtar congratulated PMRF Coordinator Prof. Abdul Qayyum Ansari on the excellent performance of the University scholars.
She also congratulated the successful candidates. Speaking on the occasion, she said the university has created a niche for itseld in the Indian academia and its students must reach the highest goals of development.
She said,”I am especially happy that six of the twelve successful students are girls. I hope this will improve the students in general and girls in particular in science and engineering research.”'

PMRF coordinator Prof Abdul Qayyum Ansari said that each of these research scholars will receive Rs 70,000 per month for the first two years, Rs 75,000 per month for the 3rd year, and Rs 80,000 per month in the 4th and 5th year
