New Delhi
The age-old debate Delhi or Bombay goes far beyond food, weather, or traffic. It seeps into the very way people live, and according to actress Sahiba Bali, dating is no exception. Having observed the contrasting dating cultures in the two cities, Sahiba shared her candid insights on how love and relationships operate in Delhi versus Bombay.
“Relationships, love life, dating culture, they’re completely different in Delhi and Bombay,” Sahiba said. “In Bombay, people tend to be more open and relaxed. You can date multiple people, have unconventional setups, and no one bats an eye. It’s a very accepting city.”
In contrast, Delhi carries a more traditional vibe. “Delhi is so judgmental, it will never be fully accepting,” Sahiba explained. “People tend to shame you or question your choices. The reactions are often like, ‘How can you do this?’ People in Delhi are very rooted in traditions, and that reflects in the dating scene as well.”
Sahiba also highlighted how men differ in the two cities. “Men in Delhi are more gentlemanly,” she said. “In Bombay, it’s more about a relaxed, fun vibe.” So, while Delhi offers old-school charm and grand gestures, Bombay thrives on a laid-back approach where people go with the flow.
Her observations resonate with many young people who’ve experienced both worlds. It’s not about which city is “better” it’s about how the culture shapes the dating experience. What’s acceptable in Bombay might raise eyebrows in Delhi, and vice versa.
