Actor Emraan Hashmi, known for his intense performances on screen, recently revisited one of the most challenging chapters of his personal life, his son Ayaan’s diagnosis with a rare cancer. In a heartfelt conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Emraan opened up about how the news turned his world upside down and shifted his focus from career ambitions to fatherhood.

Recounting the harrowing moment in 2014, Emraan shared, “The most difficult phase of my life began when my son fell seriously ill. It all started over a casual brunch on 13th January. We were eating pizza, and suddenly, I noticed he had passed blood in his urine. Within hours, we were at a doctor’s clinic. The news was devastating, our three-year-old had Wilms’ tumour, a rare form of kidney cancer. Surgery was scheduled for the next day, followed by chemotherapy. In just twelve hours, my whole world had flipped.”

Reflecting on the emotional rollercoaster, he added, “Life gives you moments of high and control, and then suddenly, it throws a challenge at you that shakes your very core.”

Emraan has previously shared his journey on Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2019, revealing the anxiety and psychological strain during his son’s remission phase. For five years, hospital visits, treatments, and the constant fear of a relapse defined the family’s life. His son Ayaan’s recovery became his top priority, and the actor channeled his experience into a co-authored book with Bilal Siddiqi titled The Kiss of Life: How a Superhero and My Son Defeated Cancer.
