New Delhi
India will host its largest-ever exhibition celebrating domestic trade and entrepreneurship next year, with the first edition of “Swadeshi Mela-2026” set to take place at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, in May 2026.
The event is being organised by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) in collaboration with the Swadeshi Jagran Manch and several national organisations. It aims to bring together MSMEs, artisans, start-ups, small industries and Made-in-India products on one unified platform, offering global visibility to indigenous goods and businesses.
The idea for the Swadeshi Mela was proposed by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal during CAIT’s National Governing Council meeting on November 25.
CAIT National Secretary General and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal said the mega exhibition will not only highlight the strength of Indian trade and craftsmanship but also provide entrepreneurs — including women and young innovators — an opportunity to tap international markets.
For the event, a National Steering Board has been constituted under the chairmanship of industrialist Dr Ram Gopal Goyal, comprising 65 members from across the trade and industry ecosystem, with strong representation of women and youth.
The Board will hold its first meeting on December 4 in New Delhi to finalise the theme, exhibition plan and nationwide promotional strategy. Sector-specific committees will also be formed, including industry, start-ups, artisans, women entrepreneurs, technology, e-commerce, handloom and Ayurveda.
A nationwide campaign to invite participation and stall bookings will be launched after the framework is finalised. Steering committees in every State will be established to promote the event across India.
