Three-time major champion Minjee Lee produced a sparkling second round of 8-under 64 on Friday to climb into a tie for second place at the HSBC Women's World Championship.
The world No. 4, one of nine top-10 players in the field this week, carded an eagle and six birdies to register one of the best rounds of the day on the Sentosa Golf Club’s Tanjong course.
Lee’s effort left her one stroke behind American Auston Kim, who followed her opening 66 with a 69 to lead at 9-under 135 after two rounds.
Lee was tied for second alongside Ariya Jutanugarn (67) and Haeran Ryu (68). Fellow Australian Hannah Green closed with three consecutive birdies for a 66 to move into a tie for fifth. American Angel Yin matched Lee’s 64 and stood at 6-under, three shots off the lead.
Lee’s major victories came at the Evian Championship in 2021, the U.S. Women's Open in 2022 and last year’s Women's PGA Championship.
World No. 3 Charley Hull shot a 67 to reach 5-under, while defending champion Lydia Ko struggled to a 72 and sat at 2-under. Top-ranked Jeeno Thitikul, fresh off a win in Thailand last week, posted a 70 to finish the day at 1-under.
