The JEE Advanced results are out and Majid Mujahid Hussain, 17, from Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh is among the toppers of what is considered one of the toughest examinations for admission into the prestigious IITs, and top engineering and technology institutions of India.
Majid has secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) 3 by scoring 330 out of 360 marks and 99.9992 percentile.
Rajit Gupta is the all-India topper while Devdatta Majhi from West Bengal is the topper among women in an examination that saw 54,378 candidates including 9,404 females successful.
Mujahid Hussain hails from Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh. He began preparing for JEE in class 11 and also enrolled in a coaching center. He scored 296 out of 300 marks and topped the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2025 (session 1) in February. He was the topper of Madhya Pradesh.
Majid Mujahid Hussain with AIR 3 is from IIT Bombay zone in which 3 candidates have made it to the top 10 list, and 31 to the top 100 list.
IIT Delhi zone and IIT Hyderabad zone have performed better than other zones, as most of the candidates from these zones have cleared the JEE Advanced 2025 exam.
Majid Hussain’s father Mujahid Hussain is self-employed and prioritised his son's education, while his mother, a homemaker constantly encouraged him.
Majid Hussain’s schooling was in Burhanpur, and his teachers remember him as a brilliant student from the beginning.
He scored over 95% in his Class 10 CBSE examinations and 93% in Class 12 and consistently excelled in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. He participated in National Olympiads, winning accolades in the Math Olympiad, NSEC, INPFO, IOQM, NSEP, INMO, INCHO, and SOF competitions.
Besides joining the coaching, Majid Hussain prepared for what is one of the toughest examinations in the world, with 8-10 hours of self-study.

He says he systematically divided the syllabus and solved previous JEE papers to master the exam format.
He took mock tests regularly and reviewed his mistakes. Though physics was his weak point initially, he overcame it with consistent effort and guidance.
To reduce stress, Majid practiced meditation and sometimes read books for relaxation.
This excellent approach led him to score 99.9992 percentile with 296 marks out of 300 in both sessions of JEE Main 2025.
He attributes his success to consistent practice, a structured study plan, and effective use of coaching material and mock exams.
He stresses the importance of giving equal attention to all three subjects and solving previous years' question papers regularly.
Majeed Hussain is keen to pursue electrical engineering at IIT Bombay.
His father appreciated Majeed Hussain's discipline, resilience, and focus throughout his preparation journey.
