Awaz-e-Khwateen, a grassroots Muslim women-led organisation dedicated to promoting awareness, education, legal literacy, and leadership among Muslim women, marked India’s 77th Republic Day with pride and purpose at Zayed Girls College.

The event, held in the college premises, was graced by Mr. Aqil Nafees, Joint Director of Parliament, and Dr. Parveen, convenor of Awaz-e-Khwateen, as the guests of honour. The celebrations commenced with a solemn flag hoisting ceremony, setting the tone for a day of reflection on democracy, equality, and women’s role in nation-building.

The event brought together approximately 1,000 girl students, 30 faculty members, the Principal of Zayed Girls College, and the Awaz-e-Khwateen team, creating a vibrant and interactive platform for dialogue on the importance of women’s empowerment and constitutional values. Through this gathering, Awaz-e-Khwateen reaffirmed its mission to nurture confident, informed, and empowered women who can actively participate in shaping society.

In alignment with this vision, a Republic Day Speech Competition was organised to encourage students to express their thoughts on constitutional rights, social justice, and inclusive development. The competition aimed not only to strengthen public speaking and critical thinking skills but also to foster civic awareness, a cornerstone of women’s empowerment.

Outstanding performers were recognised with cash awards, First Prize ₹5,000, Second Prize ₹3,000, and Third Prize ₹2,000—demonstrating the organisation’s commitment to celebrating talent, merit, and leadership among young women. In addition, the principal and programme coordinators of Zayed Girls College were felicitated by Awaz-e-Khwateen for their role in facilitating and supporting the event.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Parveen highlighted the critical role of educated and aware girls in sustaining a strong democracy. She emphasised that empowering women with knowledge of their rights strengthens families and communities alike, creating the foundation for a progressive society.

The college principal echoed these sentiments, commending Awaz-e-Khwateen’s consistent efforts in providing platforms that inspire confidence, national responsibility, and active citizenship among students. Miss Yusra Siddiqui and Miss Tooba served as the coordinator and co-coordinator of the event from Awaz-e-Khwateen, ensuring its smooth execution.

Students participated enthusiastically, demonstrating awareness of social issues and an eagerness to contribute to society. The celebratory atmosphere was enriched by discussions on equality, civic responsibility, and women’s contribution to nation-building—core themes that resonated throughout the event.

The Republic Day celebration concluded on an uplifting note, leaving students motivated to become active, responsible citizens and future leaders. The event exemplified Awaz-e-Khwateen’s vision that informed, empowered, and confident women are the architects of a progressive India. By combining education, awareness, and encouragement for public engagement, the organisation continues to foster a generation of young women equipped to lead, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to both their communities and the nation at large.
