At least four children lost their lives and several others were injured after the roof of a classroom at a private school collapsed in Pakistan’s Punjab province on Thursday, according to emergency officials.
The incident occurred in Dera Ghazi Khan, located around 400 kilometres from Lahore.
Officials from Rescue 1122 said several children were inside the classroom when the roof suddenly gave way.
Rescue teams recovered the bodies of four children from the debris, while 14 injured students were pulled out and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
A teacher trapped in the collapse was also rescued with injuries.
Emergency personnel continued search and relief operations at the site amid fears that more children could still be trapped beneath the rubble.
Officials warned that the death toll could rise as some of the injured students are said to be in critical condition.

Maryam Nawaz expressed grief over the tragedy and conveyed condolences to the families of the victims.
