The Israel Defense Forces on Friday said it carried out strikes on a key Iranian facility involved in the production of missiles and naval mines in the city of Yazd.
According to the Israeli military, the operation was based on intelligence inputs from its naval and military intelligence units. The targeted site was reportedly used for designing, developing, assembling, and storing advanced weapons systems, including missiles capable of being launched from ships, submarines, and helicopters against maritime targets.
The IDF claimed that the facility played a central role in Iran’s naval weapons programme and described the strike as a significant blow to the capabilities of the country’s naval forces, particularly those linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Iran has not officially confirmed the strike so far.
In a separate update, the IDF said it also conducted overnight operations in Tehran, targeting ballistic missile production infrastructure and air defence systems. Additional strikes were reported in western Iran, aimed at missile launchers and storage facilities considered a threat to Israel.
Meanwhile, regional tensions appeared to widen, with reports of explosions emerging from Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. Media reports citing port authorities indicated that drones may have targeted Kuwait’s Shuwaikh Port.
The developments come as the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran enters its fourth week, with hostilities intensifying across multiple fronts.
Amid the escalation, reports suggest that the United States Department of Defense is considering deploying additional ground troops to the region, even as discussions around a possible pause in hostilities continue.
In parallel, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced a fresh round of attacks under its ongoing military campaign, targeting US and Israeli assets across the region with missiles and drones.
