Geneva
A Pashtun human rights defender, Fazal ur Rehman Afridi, has accused Pakistan of carrying out attacks on civilians in both Afghanistan and its own regions, calling for international accountability.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Afridi alleged that recent airstrikes targeted civilian areas rather than military installations, describing them as violations of international law.
He claimed that a recent strike in Kabul hit a hospital, resulting in significant civilian casualties, and urged the United Nations to ensure accountability.
Afridi also alleged that military operations in regions such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have increasingly affected civilians, particularly amid rising tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

Highlighting concerns over enforced disappearances, he said there has been a sharp rise in such cases involving Pashtun and Baloch communities, alleging that detainees are often subjected to torture or killed.
Calling for global intervention, Afridi urged international institutions to hold Pakistani authorities accountable, warning that such violations could continue unchecked without oversight.
