The President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President, who is on an official visit to India, went to JNPA (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority), India’s best performing Port, on Thursday. He was accompanied by senior dignitaries Maldives.

President Solih visited one of the JNPA’s terminal GTI to get an overview of the overall functioning of the port.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) at Navi Mumbai is the premier container handling port in India, accounting for around 50% of the total containerized cargo volume, across the major ports of India. JNPA is connected to over 200 ports in the world and is ranked 26th in the list of top 100 Container Ports globally. Its vision is to become the premier container port of South Asia.

According to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Highways, the JNPA  Chairman, Sanjay Sethi gave a traditional welcome to the Maldivian President, in the presence of Unmesh Sharad Wagh, Deputy Chairman, JNPA, and all the heads of departments of JN Port. The President was briefed by Chairman, JNPA, on the various projects at JNPA.

Highlighting JNPA’s latest developmental projects, the Chairman said that he said aligning with the vision of the  government JNPA has taken up several developmental projects like the development of the greenfield port at Vadhvan, dry ports in the hinterland of the state, the fourth container terminal, etc. which will contribute to the nation’s growing economy.
