A heartwarming story of communal harmony has emerged from Hisar, where members of the Sikh community came forward to support the repair of the historic Jama Masjid at Lahoriya Chowk of Hisar city of Haryana. The mosque, believed to be around 200 years old, was facing repair-related concerns.

According to the shared account, some Sikh residents contributed by helping with repair work, while others offered financial or other forms of support. Their participation has drawn attention as an example of people coming together to protect a place of religious and historical significance.

The story has been widely appreciated for highlighting mutual respect and brotherhood beyond religious differences. Such moments show how communities can support one another during difficult situations and strengthen the spirit of peaceful coexistence.

The incessant monsoon rains had further threatened the mosque structure. Led by Sikhs, people of all religions contributed to raise funds for the preservation and restoration of the monument.

A person present in the mosque described the entire scene as extremely beautiful and said, "This is a beautiful sight here, one that is rarely seen these days. We are sitting in the mosque, with people from all communities - Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists. Sir, please tell me, how did all of these people come together, how did they come together, how did they unite?"

Surendra, an All India Kisan Sabha activist, told media persons that religious sites are not limited to the sentiments of an individual or community; these are part of shared heritage. The gathering, he said, reflected this sense of shared responsibility.

Those present said their aim was not to stand against anyone but to strengthen goodwill and brotherhood.

Surendra said, “We want goodwill. We want unity for the country; we are people who want to develop the country. Unless all religions are respected, the country and society cannot develop. It is with this in mind that all of us have gathered here today.”

Pointing to a handful of Muslim leaders present, Surendra said, “We want to make sure that our Muslim brothers do not feel alone in anything; they should realise that we have thousands of hands to support them.”
