US President Donald Trump on Monday called for several Muslim and Arab-majority nations to join the Abraham Accords as part of a broader regional arrangement linked to a possible agreement with Iran, while claiming that ongoing negotiations with Tehran were progressing positively.

In an extensive post on Truth Social, Trump described the potential understanding as a possible “historic event” for the Middle East and urged countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain to become part of the Abraham Accords framework.

Trump stated that talks with Iran were “proceeding nicely” and said any agreement would either have to be comprehensive or not happen at all. He warned that failure to secure a deal could lead to renewed and intensified conflict in the region.

The US President suggested that Saudi Arabia and Qatar should join the Abraham Accords immediately after any agreement with Iran is finalised, adding that other countries could follow thereafter. He also floated the possibility that Iran itself could eventually become part of the framework if relations with the United States improve through a successful agreement.

According to Trump, the Abraham Accords had brought major financial, economic and social benefits to countries that had already joined the arrangement, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan and Kazakhstan.

He claimed the accords had strengthened regional stability and prosperity and said several leaders he had spoken with would welcome Iran into the framework if a final agreement is reached.

Trump said the issue had been discussed with a number of regional leaders, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Describing the proposed arrangement as potentially one of the most significant diplomatic developments in the region’s history, Trump said he had directed his representatives to begin efforts aimed at expanding the Abraham Accords to additional countries.

The Abraham Accords are US-brokered agreements signed in 2020 that normalised diplomatic, economic and security relations between Israel and several Arab nations.

Meanwhile, according to a report by Axios citing two US officials, Trump discussed the matter during a conference call with leaders from multiple Muslim-majority and Arab countries on Saturday. During the call, he reportedly stressed that once the conflict involving Iran ends, he wants more nations to formally recognise Israel and join the accords.

Axios reported that Trump’s proposal was met with a brief silence during the conversation, particularly from leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Pakistan, none of which currently maintain formal diplomatic ties with Israel.
