Prime Minister Narendra Modi showcased India's growing technological capabilities and its vision for responsible artificial intelligence at the VivaTech Summit in Paris, where India was featured as the AI Partner Country and Country of Focus.

Speaking at a media briefing following the event, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said the Prime Minister used the platform to highlight India's rapid advances in technology and innovation, as well as its ability to implement digital solutions on a massive scale for a population of over a billion people.

Misri noted that the Prime Minister underscored India's approach to technology as a tool for empowerment and development. Referring to artificial intelligence, he said PM Modi emphasised that transformative technologies must serve humanity rather than dominate it.

"The Prime Minister highlighted both the innovation taking place in India's technology sector and the country's experience in deploying technology at scale. He also shared India's vision that artificial intelligence should remain focused on serving people and advancing human welfare," Misri said.

VivaTech, regarded as Europe's largest startup and technology gathering, brings together entrepreneurs, investors, industry leaders and policymakers from across the world. India's prominent participation this year reflected its expanding role in the global technology ecosystem.

Addressing the summit earlier in the day, PM Modi outlined India's perspective on artificial intelligence, stressing that wider access to the technology is essential to ensure its benefits are shared broadly across societies.

He said India views AI through the lens of inclusivity, remarking that for the country, "AI means all-inclusive." The Prime Minister emphasised that technological progress should help bridge gaps rather than deepen inequalities.

Highlighting India's achievements in innovation, Modi invited global investors and technology companies to explore opportunities in the country. He said the government's efforts to simplify regulations and improve the ease of doing business have created a favourable environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Prime Minister encouraged participants to visit the India Pavilion at the summit, which showcases the strength of the country's startup ecosystem and emerging technologies.

Among the innovations on display are the world's first 3D-printed rocket engine, advanced genetic engineering therapies and artificial intelligence-powered healthcare solutions capable of detecting cancer and other critical diseases.

Modi also highlighted the role of AI in expanding access to services, accelerating economic growth and supporting environmental sustainability. He said emerging technologies have the potential to address some of the world's most pressing challenges when developed and deployed responsibly.

Calling for greater international collaboration in technology, the Prime Minister urged innovators, businesses and policymakers to work together with India in shaping solutions that benefit people across the globe.
