Firdaus of Jamia gets top award for research project

New Delhi

A Kashmir-born researcher of Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, Firdaus Ahmed Gogri, has been awarded the prestigious the 'Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Abstract Award for Scientists 2021'.

Firdaus had participated in the World Microb Forum 2021 jointly organized by the Association of American Societies (ASM) and the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS).

The abstract of his research - Occurrence of High Risk MCR-1, BLANDM and OXA Gains in Bacterial Isolates from Delhi - was one of the few from all over the world to receive this prestigious award.

Firdaus has been doing his doctoral thesis under the guidance of Prof Qazi Mohammad Rizwanul Haque, Microbiology Research Lab, Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Jamia.

The university vice chancellor Dr Najma Akhtar congratulated Firdaus for his success.
