Kashmiri food-seller's son cracks NEET through self-study

Merajuddin Khan helped his father at his barbeque shop at rush hours when people would throng this popular Tujjae (Kashmiri name for barbequed meat served on wooden skewers, a popular street food) joint in Baramulla, north Kashmit town. His parents and everyone in the family often objected to this since Merajuddin was studying to clear the NEET examination and get admission into a Medical college.

On Thursday, as the result of the NEET threw the family in ecstasy as despite helping his father run the shop, Merrajuddin had cleared the NEET UG 2022 examination.

Merajuddin Khan secured 591 marks in the examination. He attributed his success to the hard work and support of his family and friends. "My family has been a support to me. They used to tell me to focus only on my studies. But, sometimes, I used to help my father at the shop where he sells barbecue.

Khan received his primary education from Hanafia Model School in Warpura area and attended Army Goodwill School till Class VIII. He attended MMK School in Nihalpura for class 10 and then Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Baramulla till the higher secondary.

Khan's family, with little resources, managed to send him for private tuition. However, due to the Covid lockdown, he had to study at home.

Khan said. "I went to a private tuition center in Baramulla in class 11 but then there was the COVID-19 lockdown. I saw that many students had studied from YouTube and cleared NEET, so I thought I Why can't it. I studied from youtube channels and other online platforms,"

Khan cracked NEET in his first attempt.  He said NEET aspirants should stay focused. "Work relentlessly to achieve their goal. Keep at it and you'll make it.
