Crude oil prices rose by Rs 101 to Rs 8,861 per barrel in the futures trade on Tuesday amid positive global trends.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil futures for September delivery rose by Rs 101, or 1.15 per cent, to Rs 8,861 per barrel in a business turnover of 4,982 lots.

Analysts said the rise in bets by participants kept crude oil prices higher in futures trade.

Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude was trading at USD 93.69 per barrel, up 2.42 per cent. Brent crude was up 1.37 per cent at USD 98.33 per barrel in New York.
