Gold futures rise to Rs 1,44,463/10 gm on firm spot demand

New Delhi

Gold prices on Wednesday rose by Rs 1,580 to Rs 1,44,463 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators created fresh positions on firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, yellow metal contracts for August delivery traded higher by Rs 1,580, or 1.11 per cent, at Rs 1,44,463 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 790 lots.

Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in precious metal prices, analysts said.

Globally, gold futures rose 1.23 per cent to USD 4,127.3 per ounce in New York.
