Members of the Indian Youth Congress staged a protest in the national capital on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over allegations of a question paper leak in this year’s NEET-UG 2026 examination.

Carrying banners, placards, and party flags, Youth Congress workers marched from Teen Murti Circle towards the education minister’s official residence, raising slogans against the Centre over alleged lapses in the examination process.

Police intercepted the demonstrators before they could proceed further, following which several protesters, including IYC president Uday Bhanu Chib, were taken into preventive detention.

The protest comes in the wake of the cancellation of the NEET-UG examination conducted on May 3 following allegations of irregularities. The Union education ministry has since announced a fresh examination on June 21.

Accusing the BJP-led NDA government of failing to safeguard the integrity of competitive examinations, Youth Congress leaders alleged that the country’s education system had been severely compromised.

Protesters claimed that multiple examination papers had reportedly been leaked over the past several years, including repeated controversies surrounding NEET, and said such incidents had raised serious concerns about transparency and fairness in the recruitment and admission process.

During the demonstration, party workers also alleged that systemic corruption in the examination process disproportionately harms students from economically weaker backgrounds, while benefiting those with financial and political influence.
