Filmmaker Guy Ritchie’s upcoming war-action thriller In the Grey, headlined by Henry Cavill, is officially set for a theatrical release on April 10, positioning it as a major draw in the spring 2026 movie calendar.
Written and directed by Ritchie, the film is produced by Ritchie and Ivan Atkinson under the Toff Guy banner, alongside John Friedberg for Black Bear and Dave Caplan for C2. Black Bear has now assumed responsibility for the film’s theatrical release in the United States, following a shift from earlier distribution plans with Lionsgate. Lionsgate, however, will continue to handle the film’s digital and pay-TV rollout.
The release date places In the Grey in a competitive window, with several other titles scheduled around the same time, including The Christophers, You, Me & Tuscany, an untitled Shudder Films project, and a forthcoming GKids release.
The ensemble cast features Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, Eiza González, Rosamund Pike, Fisher Stevens and Kristofer Hivju. The story centres on a covert group of elite operatives operating in the shadows, tasked with retrieving a billion-dollar fortune stolen by a ruthless ruler. What begins as a high-stakes recovery mission quickly escalates into a brutal battle for survival, marked by deception, strategy and relentless action.
Black Bear’s President of U.S. Distribution, Benjamin Kramer, praised the film’s blend of action and storytelling, highlighting Ritchie’s signature approach. In a recent question answer session Kramer said the film combines sharp writing, dynamic action and a formidable cast, while also acknowledging Lionsgate’s role in facilitating the project’s release strategy.
In the Grey is part of Black Bear’s broader 2026 slate, which includes several high-profile action films, underscoring the studio’s focus on large-scale, star-driven theatrical releases.
