Nita Ambani on Friday hosted a special evening in Mumbai to honour some of India’s most celebrated artists and master artisans, showcasing their work at The Master’s Pavilion inside the Swadesh flagship store at Eros.
The curation featured masterpieces by renowned National Award-winning craftsmen, including miniature artist Shammi Bannu Sharma, textile specialist Gunjan Jain (Odisha Ikat), and weaving legends V. Panneerselvam, GhanShyam Sarode, and Padma Shri Biren Basak. Each display reflected generational knowledge and artisanal excellence, aligning with Swadesh’s mission to preserve and promote India’s living craft heritage.
Nita Ambani spent time observing the intricacies of the showcased works and interacted with the artisans, marking the evening as a tribute to communities sustaining traditional handcraft techniques across India.
For the event, Ambani wore a peacock-blue Banarasi saree from Swadesh, woven using the historic Kadhua technique. The saree featured delicate Meena motifs symbolising the precision and finesse of the Banaras weaving community. She paired it with a Manish Malhotra blouse embellished with a polki border, hand-painted deity buttons, and a vintage spinel tassel from her personal collection.
Her jewellery selection echoed India’s regal heritage — antique Kundan polki earrings over a century old, a handcrafted jadau bird ring from Swadesh, and a haath phool inherited from her mother.
