Joyous celebrations swept across India after Team India edged past England in a nail-biting semifinal of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

As the Men in Blue sealed their place in the final, social media was flooded with congratulatory messages. Several Bollywood celebrities joined the chorus, applauding the team’s spirited performance in the high-scoring clash.

Actor Suniel Shetty, known for his love for cricket, shared his excitement on Instagram. Praising the team’s effort, he highlighted the contributions of players like Sanju Samson, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya, while giving special credit to Axar Patel for his match-defining catches. Shetty also acknowledged England’s Jacob Bethell for his remarkable innings under pressure.

Actor Raveena Tandon celebrated the victory with family and friends and shared glimpses of the moment online. In her post, she congratulated the Indian players and lauded their performance in the thrilling contest.

Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan also joined the wave of celebrations, sharing her excitement over India’s win, while veteran actor Anupam Kher expressed pride in the team, hailing the victory with patriotic fervour.

India posted a massive total of 253 for seven in the first innings, setting a daunting target for England. Despite a brilliant century from Jacob Bethell, the English side fell just seven runs short in a dramatic finish.

With the win, India advanced to the final of the T20 World Cup 2026, where they will face New Zealand on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat.
