Google has introduced Gemini 3.1 Pro, the newest iteration of its artificial intelligence model, designed to handle complex tasks with sharper reasoning and improved analytical depth.
The release comes three months after the debut of Gemini 3 Pro on November 19, signalling the company’s steady push to refine its core AI capabilities.
According to Google, the updated model marks a meaningful advance in foundational reasoning, positioning Gemini 3.1 Pro as a more capable engine for addressing layered and sophisticated challenges. The company claims the model has delivered stronger results across a range of industry benchmarks compared to its predecessor and other leading AI systems.
One of the key highlights cited is its performance on ARC-AGI-2, a benchmark that measures how effectively an AI system can interpret and solve unfamiliar logic problems. Google says Gemini 3.1 Pro surpassed competing models in this evaluation, reflecting improved adaptability and problem-solving strength.
The company describes the model as suited for scenarios that demand more than straightforward responses. It is built to process complex, multi-step queries and generate structured, nuanced outputs.
Google also emphasised practical use cases, noting that Gemini 3.1 Pro can assist in creating clear visual explanations of intricate subjects, consolidating extensive datasets into coherent summaries, and enhancing creative and analytical workflows.

The model is being made available to users through the Gemini app. Subscribers to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra plans will have access to expanded usage limits. Additionally, Gemini 3.1 Pro is integrated into NotebookLM, though access there is limited to Pro and Ultra subscribers.
With this rollout, Google reinforces its focus on advancing reasoning-driven AI, an area that has emerged as a key battleground in the rapidly evolving generative AI landscape.
