Chinese smartphone giant Huawei may be preparing to push battery capacities in smartphones to a new level. A fresh leak from China suggests the company is internally testing a handset equipped with a battery that could exceed the 10,000mAh mark, potentially setting a new benchmark for mainstream smartphones.

The information comes from well-known Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, who claimed that Huawei is experimenting with a “10,000mAh+++” battery setup. Although the exact capacity remains unknown, the wording indicates that the battery could significantly surpass the 10,000mAh threshold.

According to the leak, Huawei is not only increasing battery size but also redesigning the internal battery architecture. The company is reportedly using a new material composition alongside an updated cell structure to fit the larger battery without dramatically increasing the phone’s size.

The tipster further suggested that Huawei may first introduce this technology in a mid-range smartphone rather than a flagship device. This strategy could help the company test the reliability and performance of the new battery system before bringing it to its premium lineup.

At present, Huawei’s largest smartphone battery is found in the Enjoy 90 Pro Max, which features an 8,500mAh battery with support for 40W wired charging. The device also includes Huawei’s “Super Energy Pump” technology aimed at improving efficiency and extending battery durability.

While details about the new battery material remain unclear, industry trends point toward silicon-carbon batteries as a likely option. This technology has already enabled brands such as Honor, Vivo, and Realme to launch phones with exceptionally large batteries while maintaining relatively slim designs.

Reports earlier this year also hinted that Huawei could bring a 10,000mAh battery to the upcoming Enjoy 100 series, making it a possible candidate for debuting the new technology.

Huawei has not officially commented on the leak so far, and the information should be treated as speculative until confirmed by the company.
