Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi could soon expand its K90 series lineup with the launch of the Redmi K90 Ultra, a premium smartphone that is expected to sit below the Redmi K90 Max in the company's portfolio.

According to details shared by noted Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the upcoming handset may be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. The device is also tipped to feature an integrated active cooling solution, including a built-in fan, aimed at sustaining high performance during intensive gaming and multitasking sessions.

The leak suggests that Redmi is positioning the K90 Ultra as a high-performance smartphone capable of competing with other flagship devices expected to use next-generation Snapdragon platforms.

Battery life could be another major highlight of the handset. The Redmi K90 Ultra is reportedly being tested with a battery capacity exceeding 8,000mAh, making it one of the largest batteries seen in the segment. The phone is also expected to support 100W wired fast charging.

Earlier reports have indicated that the smartphone may sport a 6.89-inch LTPS OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Other expected features include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, enhanced stereo speakers and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The Redmi K90 Ultra was reportedly spotted on China's 3C certification platform earlier this year, further hinting at an upcoming launch. The certification listing is said to have confirmed support for 100W charging.

The smartphone is expected to share several hardware elements with the Redmi K90 Max, which debuted in China in April. The K90 Max features a 6.83-inch display, MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 chipset, a dedicated display chip, active cooling technology, and an 8,550mAh battery.
