Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa on Tuesday inaugurated the e-commerce launch of Swedish home furnishings brand IKEA in the State, marking a key step in the company’s expansion across Southern India.
Speaking at the virtual launch, Rajaa said, “Under Chief Minister M K Stalin’s administration, global brands are thriving in Tamil Nadu thanks to transparent and professional governance. IKEA will now also benefit from this environment.”
The Minister expressed hope that IKEA would consider localising its supply chain in Tamil Nadu, noting the company’s long-standing sourcing of textiles and other products from the State, making it one of IKEA India’s oldest supplier bases.
“Local suppliers already meet international manufacturing, social, and environmental standards, supporting thousands of jobs. As IKEA grows in India, this ecosystem is expected to generate even more employment,” he added.
Rajaa also emphasised that Tamil Nadu offers the ideal manufacturing ecosystem for global-quality production, encouraging IKEA to leverage the State for its complete supply chain.
