The clinical laboratory at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute in Bengaluru has received ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for biochemistry and haematology, the Union Ministry of Ayush said.

According to the ministry, the institute has become the first centre under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) to obtain the accreditation.

The certification signifies that the laboratory meets globally accepted quality benchmarks and provides accurate, reliable and safe diagnostic results for patients.

The ministry said the recognition marks the transformation of the facility from an entry-level National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories-certified laboratory into a fully accredited centre of excellence.

Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav said accreditation to international standards such as ISO 15189:2022 helps ensure dependable and precise diagnostic services, which are vital for effective treatment and better health outcomes.

Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha described the accreditation in both biochemistry and haematology as a major step toward integrating high-quality diagnostics with traditional medicine systems, adding that it strengthens evidence-based practice and patient-centred care.

CCRAS Director General Rabinarayan Acharya said the achievement raises quality standards and places Ayurveda research and innovation on a stronger scientific footing.

Institute head Sulochana Bhat said the recognition reflects the team’s commitment to high-quality diagnostic care and acknowledged the efforts of Vidyashree Anchan and staff members.

The laboratory currently holds NABL accreditation for 50 test parameters in biochemistry and haematology. It offers services including blood glucose, HbA1c, liver and kidney function tests, lipid and thyroid profiles, electrolytes and complete blood counts.

During 2025-26, the laboratory reportedly conducted more than 1.52 lakh investigations for over 9,300 patients. The institute said digital reporting systems allow patients to access reports through SMS, email and WhatsApp.
