The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of targeting its workers in Gujarat, alleging that the ruling party was acting out of concern over AAP’s growing presence in the state.

Addressing reporters, AAP national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda claimed that around 160 party workers had been arrested in recent days. He also alleged that authorities were preparing to arrest Gujarat MLA Gopal Italia in what he described as a “fabricated” case.

Dhanda further alleged that threats had been issued to Italia’s family, including his mother, as part of an attempt to intimidate the legislator.

According to the AAP leader, the BJP’s actions were driven by apprehension over the party’s expanding grassroots outreach in Gujarat. “As AAP reaches every village and booth, the BJP is getting anxious. But our workers are not afraid of arrests or pressure tactics,” he said.

There was no immediate response from the BJP to the allegations.

Dhanda also made broader political claims, accusing the BJP of using unfair means to secure electoral victories, including in Delhi. He asserted that AAP would respond politically in Gujarat.
