Vice President C P Radhakrishnan on Sunday underscored that accountability and a strong sense of responsibility are fundamental to effective public administration, urging civil service officer trainees to ensure timely processing of files and cases.

Interacting with the young officers, the Vice President highlighted the importance of leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and improve the delivery of public services. He noted that digital tools, when used effectively, can significantly streamline governance and reduce delays.

Radhakrishnan cautioned the trainees against being swayed by the transient nature of social media attention. He observed that while louder voices often dominate online platforms, such prominence is short-lived and should not distract officers from their core duties.

Emphasising the human dimension of governance, he said patience and the ability to listen attentively are vital qualities for administrators. Listening carefully to public grievances, he remarked, often helps resolve a significant portion of issues even before formal intervention is required.

According to an official statement, the Vice President advised officers to remain committed to continuous learning, uphold ethical principles rooted in dharma, and practice patience in decision-making.

He also addressed the challenges posed by information overload, misinformation and the prevalence of negative narratives on social media. In this context, he encouraged officers to promote positive, factual and constructive stories that inspire public trust.
