West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is expected to travel to New Delhi on Tuesday, a day after the swearing-in of 35 legislators as ministers, according to sources.

The visit comes at a time when the state government has yet to announce the distribution of portfolios among the newly inducted ministers, sparking considerable political speculation over who will be assigned key departments.

Sources indicated that Adhikari may hold meetings with top BJP leaders in the national capital, including BJP president Nitin Nabin and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Discussions are expected to focus on organisational as well as administrative matters, with portfolio allocation likely to be among the issues under consideration.

He is also expected to participate in a special meeting in Delhi, although details regarding the gathering have not been made public.

The state cabinet is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, and an announcement regarding ministerial responsibilities is anticipated thereafter.

Before departing for Delhi, Adhikari is slated to attend several engagements in West Bengal. His day will begin with the BJP's public grievance programme, Janata Darbar, at the party's Salt Lake office.

Later, he will travel to Tarakeswar in Hooghly district to offer prayers at the famous Shiva temple and review administrative matters with district officials.

Preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to West Bengal on June 20 are also expected to be discussed during these meetings. Officials are reviewing arrangements linked to the visit, including logistical and security-related issues.
