Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday claimed that the Indian National Congress would fail to win a single seat in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 and would also face its biggest-ever defeat in Assam.

Addressing an election rally in Dum Dum near New Barrackpore, Shah said Congress was headed for major setbacks in multiple states.

“I want to tell Rahul Gandhi that in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Congress will not even cross double digits. In West Bengal, it may not even open its account, and in Assam it will suffer its biggest defeat ever,” he said.

Taking aim at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Shah said her association with Congress would politically weaken her further.

“Mamata didi, you are sitting with this same Congress. Your situation is also going to worsen,” he said.

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader also criticised Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, alleging that his political language had deteriorated due to proximity with Rahul Gandhi.

Shah further urged voters to back the BJP to make Bengal “infiltrator-free,” saying the election was not just about choosing MLAs or forming a government, but about transforming the state.
