Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday unveiled the WAVES Creators Corner at the India AI Impact Summit held at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital, highlighting the growing integration of Artificial Intelligence in creative industries.

Addressing participants at the summit, Vaishnaw pointed to the expanding role of AI in content creation, noting that startups and technology firms are increasingly leveraging advanced tools to transform the sector. He encouraged attendees to closely observe how emerging platforms are applying AI, specifically mentioning Kuku’s platform as a promising example with significant potential.

The minister also shared updates on India’s AI infrastructure push, stating that the country is set to add 20,000 more Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), which will take the total AI compute capacity to over 38,000 GPUs. GPUs are specialised chips designed to handle complex computations, power AI models, and process large volumes of data more efficiently than conventional processors.

Under the IndiaAI Mission, more than 38,000 high-end GPUs have already been made available at a subsidised cost of around Rs 65 per hour—approximately one-third of prevailing global rates. Vaishnaw said the next stage of India’s AI strategy will shift focus from infrastructure building to research, design and development of solutions tailored to domestic requirements.

He further indicated that AI-related investment commitments at the summit could exceed USD 200 billion, including around USD 90 billion that has already been pledged. While discussions are ongoing with major corporations for additional investments in AI infrastructure, he did not disclose specific names.

Vaishnaw emphasised that AI literacy initiatives are being rolled out in schools across rural and urban India, with efforts to incorporate regional languages and cultural contexts into AI development. On governance, he noted that an international consensus is emerging around a techno-legal regulatory framework for AI. India, he said, is currently engaging with nearly 30 countries on collaboration in AI technology and policy.

Meanwhile, Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, launched two digital health platforms—SAHI (Secure AI for Health Initiative) and BODH (Benchmarking Open Data Platform for Health AI)—at the summit. The initiatives aim to promote the safe, ethical and evidence-driven use of AI within India’s healthcare system.

Describing the event as both timely and essential, Nadda said AI has the transformative potential to reshape the entire economy, with healthcare playing a central role. He underscored that AI systems rely on strong digital infrastructure and high-quality datasets to function effectively.
