Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday paid tributes to Captain Jintu Gogoi, who was killed in the Kargil War, and said his legacy continues to inspire generations.
The Army officer hailed from Golaghat district.
In a post on X, the chief minister said, "Humble tributes to Shaheed Captain Jintu Gogoi (Vir Chakra) on his Martyrdom Day."

Captain Gogoi was killed in action on the intervening night of June 29-30 in 1999 while leading his troops to evict the enemy from Ridge Line Kala Pathar in Batalik sub-sector during 'Operation Vijay'.

The 29-year-old officer took down two enemy soldiers before making the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
