Assets worth crores linked to drug peddler attached in J-K’s Pulwama

Police on Monday attached assets worth crores belonging to an alleged drug peddler in Pulwama district, officials said.

The properties belong to Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Rakh-e-Lajoora, and were attached in connection with a case registered at Pulwama Police Station under Sections 8 and 15 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Officials said the attached assets include a double-storeyed residential house, a shopping complex, a washing centre and another commercial structure built on different land parcels in Rakh-e-Lajoora (Kunjipora) in Pulwama.

According to police, the properties were identified as illegally acquired assets generated through proceeds of drug trafficking.

They were attached under Section 68-F(1) of the NDPS Act, officials added.
