The Pune Police on Wednesday detained 11 Bangladeshi women for staying illegally in the city, officials said.
The women were found in possession of forged identity and residential documents, including fake Aadhaar cards, they added.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a search operation in Budhwar Peth, a red-light area in Pune, Deputy Commissioner of Police Krushikesh Rawale said.
“During the operation, 22 women were detained for verification. Of them, 11 were found to be Bangladeshi nationals who had been residing illegally in Pune for the past few months,” Rawale said.
