Suvendu Adhikari on Monday held his second ‘janata darbar’ at the BJP’s state office in Salt Lake near Kolkata, where he interacted directly with citizens and heard their grievances and demands.
Large numbers of people, including job aspirants, gathered outside the party office from early morning to meet the chief minister. Visitors were issued slips before being allowed to interact with him during the public outreach programme.
Adhikari had launched the ‘janata darbar’ initiative shortly after assuming office as chief minister on May 9, with the first such interaction being held on May 18.
During Monday’s session, students, residents and other attendees met the chief minister individually and submitted complaints related to civic problems, employment concerns and alleged syndicate activities in different areas.
The programme is being projected by the BJP as a model of direct public engagement and accessible governance, similar to initiatives seen in several BJP-ruled states.
