Patna,

Bihar will be made a hub of entrepreneurship, employment and innovation under the BJP-led “double-engine” government in the state and at the Centre, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said on Monday.

The state cabinet has expressed its resolve that Bihar will be made an active participant in building a developed India by 2047, he told a press conference here.

“All possible efforts will be made to make Bihar a major centre of investment, employment and entrepreneurship,” Choudhary said.

He also hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years in public service – as the Gujarat CM and the PM – on October 7, and said Bihar made significant progress under his leadership since 2014.

“The PM’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of development reach the socially marginalised people serves as an inspiration for all of us. During this 25-year-long journey, circumstances kept changing but the idea of ‘nation first, citizen first’ didn't change for the prime minister.

“Solving people's problems has been the priority of Modi ji. Be it construction of pucca houses, toilets, roads and bridges or providing LPG cylinders and electricity to the poor, the PM has worked relentlessly to serve the poor,” Choudhary said.

More than Rs 13 lakh crore has been directly transferred to the Bihar government over the last 12 years by the Centre “compared to Rs 2.67 lakh crore” during the 10-year UPA rule, he said.

The CM described October 7 as a “historic day”, which highlights the importance of public trust in a democracy and establishes national interest as paramount.

“People entrusted Modi ji with the responsibility of leading the nation in 2014. He accepted this responsibility not as a right to power, but as a ‘Pradhan Sevak’,” he said.

Choudhary asserted that Bihar had been “stuck in a dormant state for a long time”, but achieved unprecedented growth with support of the central government ever since Modi became the PM.

More than 90 per cent of families in Bihar received ration through the PM Garib Kalyan Yojna, alongside receiving free treatment through the Ayushman scheme, he said.

Choudhary said that under Modi’s rule, super-speciality hospitals were being constructed in various places of the state including Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, and Muzaffarpur, and an AIIMS in north Bihar.

Women in Bihar were benefiting from schemes like Lakhpati Didi and the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojna, the chief minister said.

Choudhary said that after Bhimrao Ambedkar, Karpoori Thakur and V P Singh, PM Modi worked to provide a 10-per cent reservation to the EWS category, ensuring that every deprived section is taken care of.

“Modi ji assisted in operationalising Nalanda University, provided funds for the Vishnupad Temple, and gave cabinet approval to build a corridor around the Bodhgaya Temple. The Ram Janki Path is also being built under his leadership,” the CM added.
