BJD MP Sasmit Patra on Monday called on the United States, Israel, and Iran to return to dialogue amid the escalating West Asia conflict, cautioning that a prolonged confrontation could have serious global consequences.

He stressed the importance of diplomacy, urging all sides to seek a negotiated solution and avoid further escalation. Patra warned that an extended conflict could aggravate the global energy crisis, disrupt post-pandemic economic recovery, and deepen geopolitical divisions.

“If the situation continues, it could severely impact economies worldwide and lead to greater polarisation. There is still time to step back and prioritise cooperation and dialogue over conflict,” he said.

Meanwhile, Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the Lok Sabha later in the day during the ongoing budget session, where he is expected to outline India’s stance on the crisis.

Earlier, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet Secretary briefed officials on the evolving global situation and the measures being taken across ministries to mitigate potential fallout. Discussions covered key sectors such as agriculture, fertilisers, food security, petroleum, power, MSMEs, trade, finance, and supply chains.

Officials also reviewed the likely short-, medium-, and long-term impact of the conflict on the global economy and assessed its implications for India, along with both immediate and long-term response strategies.
