The Census exercise in Himachal Pradesh will be conducted in two phases, with the first phase focusing on House Listing and Housing Census and the second phase dedicated to Population Enumeration, officials said on Monday.

Director of Census Operations and Citizen Registration for Himachal Pradesh, Deep Shikha Sharma, shared details of the upcoming Census-2027 exercise during a meeting with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, according to an official statement.

Sharma informed that the first phase of the census will take place from June 16 to July 15. She also announced the introduction of a new “Self Enumeration” facility, which citizens can access through the official self-enumeration portal from June 1 to June 15.

She further stated that the census would be conducted digitally this time. Enumerators and supervisors will use mobile devices to gather information from households across the state through a questionnaire comprising 33 government-notified questions.

According to Sharma, the second phase of the census in snow-bound regions of Himachal Pradesh will be carried out between September 11 and September 30. In the remaining areas of the state, population enumeration will take place from February 9 to February 28, 2027.
